Exhibition and workshops in Seiki-en, Sakata City, Yamagata
Organized by Sakata City Cultural Arts Promotion Project Committee in cooperation with the Center for Curatorial Studies (Tokyo University of the Arts)

Cosmic voids are regions in the universe that appear empty. They are defined by the galaxy filaments that surround them. They contain dark matter and dark energy. They haven’t changed much from the beginning of the universe; therefore, they contain a lot of information about its beginning. I am interested in how voids contain information, within the boundaries that define the vacuous and the non-vacuous.

This exhibition is a sculptural and textual exploration of voids and my experience in Sakata City in Yamagata Prefecture in summer 2025. Museumified tea containers, migratory birds, kitamaebune, architectural patterns, Go boards as stellar maps, Sayonara to Cosmos Dome, popular media Fantasmas, closure through a fabric, rocks revealing stoats. All anchors within Seiki-en become a platform for discovering specific voids.
